Nicki Minaj has finally dropped Pink Friday 2, and it features her eagerly awaited Drake collaboration.
After the “Super Freaky Girl” rapper didn’t feature on Drake’s album For All The Dogs as previously teased, he appears on the sequel to 2010’s Pink Friday on the track “Needle.”
The star-studded, 22-song digital version of the LP also features J. Cole, Lil Wayne, Tate Kobang, Lourdiz, Lil Uzi Vert, Skillibeng, Skeng, Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Future.
Minaj was working right until the last minute to get the record finished as she pulled out of a performance at the Jingle Ball at the start of the week to give herself enough time.
The rapper — who dropped the record on her birthday, Dec. 8 — was due to hit the stage for the festive event in Chicago on Dec. 4, but she canceled her appearance at the last minute. She explained she needed more time to focus on the launch of the record, which was delayed twice.
“I have to tell you something,” she wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter. “One last thing. Hope it doesn’t make you sad. I won’t be able to perform tmrw in #Chicago for Jingle Ball. I was so excited to see you guys. Pls accept my sincerest apologies. I’ll make it up to you on the Chicago stops of my tour early next year. Details to come. (sic)”
Pink Friday 2 was initially due for release in October but was pushed back until Nov. 17. It was then delayed again with a new release date of Dec. 8 to avoid clashing with Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz’s joint album Welcome 2 Collegegrove.
“I have changed my album date,” Minaj explained in an appearance on Instagram Live. “It’s been changed for some time now behind the scenes. Weezy [Lil Wayne] and 2 Chainz, they announced their date and you know how me and Weezy play. He would never do that if that was my album date.”
