Pete Davidson is getting real about his past addiction to ketamine and what it’s cost him.

While talking about his nearly three-year bout with addiction on his new Netflix special, Pete Davidson: Turbo Fonzarelli, Davidson goes in-depth about being embarrassed by his behavior and tells the story of attending Aretha Franklin’s funeral while high on the drug.

“It’s embarrassing when you’re not on ketamine anymore, though … I’m embarrassed,” the 30-year old comedian laments. “I was out and about like that. That’s not cool, you know?”

“I was at Aretha Franklin’s funeral like that,” continues Davidson. “Yeah, I have to live with that. You know what I mean? She’ll never know, but still, that’s not the point.”

“If she was there, she would probably be like, ‘Hey, who are you? And what the f— are you doing at my funeral?’ It’s embarrassing. I’m so high, I thought it would be a good idea to go up to her family and go, ‘Hey, I’m just here to pay my R-E-S-P-E-C-T … S,’ ” he quipped.

Davidson attended Franklin’s August 2018 service with then-fiancée Ariana Grande, who was scheduled to perform a cover of the Queen of Soul’s hit “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” in tribute.

Later on in the special, the former “Saturday Night Live” star revealed his motivation for getting off ketamine for good.

“I had to stop doing hard drugs because [you] can’t be a drug addict in your 30s,” he mused. “Doing drugs in your 20s is fine. It’s like an excuse. You’re like: ‘I’m finding myself.’ It’s cute, you know?”

Pete Davidson: Turbo Fonzarelli is currently streaming on Netflix.
