Kevin Hart is completely over the idea of hosting the Oscars.

You may remember back in 2018, the Philadelphia native was slated to serve as emcee for the 91st Oscar ceremony before old tweets featuring homophobic comments resurfaced in the weeks leading up to Hollywood’s biggest night and he was forced to step down from the gig.

While appearing on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live,” Hart made it clear where he stands on the idea after host Andy Cohen told him he’d still like to see him as host one day.

“Kill the idea of it, it’s not going to happen,” Hart said concisely.

“I think at a point of time in my career, it was something that acted as a bump and want, just to get a notch in my belt of something else that I was able to obtain and view.” Hart added. “But I’m far beyond and past that. But I don’t need that at this point.”

With Hart having been tapped to host numerous other award shows including the BET Awards, MTV Video Music awards, and the MTV Movie Awards, it seems the Oscars were the last big award show to host but the Ride Along franchise star is adamant in his stance.

Another issue Hart has with the idea of hosting the Oscars is that in his opinion, the gig has simply lost its appeal to comedians.

“Those gigs aren’t good gigs for comics,” Hart told Sky News. ” It’s no shot to the Oscars, no shot to the Globes or anything else. Those just aren’t comedy-friendly environments anymore… The days of it being a room for a comic, those days are done.”

“There’s just no return of good,” continued Hart. “What is it doing for me? There’s no upside at this point. That’s the only reason why.”

Oscar talk aside, Hart is looking forward to being honored as the 25th recipient of the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Humor on March 24 during the Kennedy Center Honors ceremony.

Hart’s latest projects include the documentary, Kevin Hart & Chris Rock: Headliners Only, and the newly recently action comedy, Lift, in which he stars alongside Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Sam Worthington. Both projects are currently streaming on Netflix.
