Jordan Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions company are set to release a new twisted action thriller soon.

Starring and directed by Dev Patel, Monkey Man is inspired in part by the legend of Hindu god, Hanuman. In the film, Patel’s character, the Kid, is out for vengeance against a corrupt power system responsible for the death of his mother and the continued oppression of the powerless and poor.

The Kid makes his living fighting for cash in an underground fight club where he wears a monkey mask and is routinely beaten up by more popular fighters. After deciding he’s had enough, the Kid devises a plan to integrate himself into the inner circle of the elites he holds responsible for his mother’s death and exact his revenge from within.

What ensues can only be described as a blood road to revenge where everything from an aquarium to pots and pans are used as deadly weapons.

In addition to Patel, the film also stars Ashwini Kalsekar, Makarand Deshpande and Sharlto Copley.

Monkey Man is set to arrive in theaters on April 5.
