Kelly Rowland and Trevante Rhodes get hot and heavy in ‘Mea Culpa’

Attorney-client privilege takes on a whole new meaning in Tyler Perry’s new film

Mea Culpa, the heavily anticipated new crime thriller from Tyler Perry is finally on its way to Netflix.


The film stars Kelly Rowland as attorney Mea Harper and Trevante Rhodes as Zyair Malloy, an artist accused of killing his girlfriend. What starts as a normal lawyer/client relationship soon spirals into a twisted and heated mess of a situation that just might cause Harper’s world to turn upside as she gets lost in the case and seductive power of Malloy.


In addition to Rhodes and Rowland, who also serves as producer, the film also stars RonReaco Lee (“Survivor’s Remorse”), “The First Wives Club”), Shannon Thornton (“P-Valley”), Nick Sagar (“Run The World”), and Sean Sagar (NCIS: Sydney).

Serving as the fifth film in Perry’s multimillion dollar deal with Netflix, Mea Culpa comes on the heels of successful releases A Fall from GraceA Madea Homecoming, A Jazzman’s Blues and Don’t Look Up.


Up next for Perry is the historical drama, Six Triple Eight, which tells the story of the only Army Corps unit made up of women of color to serve during World War II. Kerry Washington is set lead and act as executive producer of the forthcoming film. The ensemble cast will also feature Oprah Winfrey and Susan Sarandon.

Mea Culpa will be released on Feb. 23.
