Drake has been known to be randomly very generous to fans who catch his eye at his concerts, and the OVO boss just completed his biggest giveaway to date.
While performing in Nashville on his It’s All a Blur — Big as the What? tour with J. Cole on Wednesday (February 7), the Toronto native caught a glimpse of a fan’s sign in the crowd that read “Just Finished Chemo.” Drizzy then requested that the show cameras get a shot of the young woman and her sign for the jumbotron before making his declaration.
“Listen, forget Drake, forget anybody else in this building right now,” he started. “That’s a true soldier right there.”
“I hope my manager doesn’t kill me ’cause I’ve never really done this much, but, listen, I want you to cash this in at the end of the night,” he continued before giving her a receipt. “We’re gonna give you $100,000. I love you and I wish you the best.”
The lucky young woman, 33-year-old Nashville native Lauren Schwallier, has been battling breast cancer since March 2022 and told local outlet The Tennessean that the life-changing incident happened so fast for her.
“One thing led to another and I was at the front of the stage and Drake blew me a kiss and told me that he loved me! That’s all I was focused on… and then just like the money on top of it is just insane,” she said.
These impromptu giveaways have become the norm for Drake, though $100k is by far his most considerable sum given thus far.
Other random gifts to fans have included Chanel bags and smaller sums of cash. This past September, the “Spin Bout U” rapper spotted a fan who had made their way to multiple shows and gifted her $10k and first-class tickets to another show.
“It’s this girl right here — I swear I don’t know what kind of effort you put in — but I feel like I see you every show,” Drizzy said at the time. “You are here standing right here every single show. I see all the shows you’ve been to Brooklyn, Dallas, Dallas, Houston, Houston, and you got one more in Atlanta.
“I’m going to fly you first class to Atlanta,” he told her while fans cheered. “I’m gonna let you watch the show from the V-VIP life we’re gonna put you somewhere real nice and I’m gonna give you 10 bands so you could go spend it in Atlanta on yourself because you’ve been repping real hard this whole tour. I f— with you!”
Drake and J. Cole’s “It’s All a Blur — Big as the What?” tour recently added Lil Durk to the lineup and is scheduled to run through April.
