Artists are bringing in a spring cleaning of your 2023 playlists with an entirely new wave of incredibly good music.
Here are some of the top new releases for the week of March 8.
Tony Shhnow released Out the Woods, a project for which he told rolling out he wrote a lot of his verses for the first time in a long time. Shhnow’s pen game throughout the album is evident as he finds the pocket on every beat, whether calm, bouncy or move of a new sound similar to Playboi Carti’s on a the track “Pool,” which features PNDRN. The project also features popular singles like “Her Favorite,” “Tryna See,” “Mind of a Crook” and “I’m Standing Right Here.” With faces like KEY!, Robb Banks, Trinidad James, 10k Dunkin, Spook and YoDogg in the audience of his album listening party, hosted by Manni Supreme and deejayd by Popstar Benny, it is evident Shhnow has stamped himself as a force in Atlanta culture.
KYLE has gone through a lot of changes in his personal life over the past few years. He lost his father, went independent as an artist, got a new set of teeth and has also had online rumor rumblings of separating from his long-time fiancée. He vulnerably addressed this on “Sweetest Thing.” The changes spawned the title of his new album, SMYLE AGAIN, a play on the title of his 2015 album, SMYLE. This album features Guapdad 4000, Teezo Touchdown, Lay Bankz and Tinashe.
MIKE continued his recent dominant hip-hop run with the release of Pinball, produced by Tony Seltzer. The album is different than MIKE’s traditional sound, which makes sense because he usually produces most of his songs. The project features Earl Sweatshirt, Tony Shhnow, Jay Critch and Niontay.
