If there’s one thing we know about Ice Cube, it’s that he’ll always speak his mind.
So when the “Pushin’ Weight” rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) to give fans an update on the upcoming season of his BIG3 basketball league, it’s safe to say he didn’t take too kindly to accusations of aligning with “white supremacists” now that games will be broadcast on Elon Musk’s X.
After one fan asked why games from the league wouldn’t be on streaming platform Rumble Video, the Don Mega simply replied “Cause we’re on X…better ask somebody.”
Fans quickly chimed in to express their thoughts on the new partnership and weren’t shy in casting their doubts about Cube’s involvement with Musk, X’s controversial owner whom Cube has exchanged words with in the past, and some of Musk’s questionable political stances over the last few years.
“I respect you’re responce [sic] but just look and see who Elon connects himself to and tell me I’m wrong,” tweeted one fan. “I still have respect for Cube, always will. However I’m not blind to his who he aligns with. I like the Big 3, Both things can be right at the same time.”
Musk has in the past been very vocal in his support of a number of right-wing leaning figures including problematic former president Donald Trump, Joe Rogan, and James Murdoch of Fox News.
“Love and respect Cube but his alignment with a white supremest [sic] is all we need to know,” another fan chimed in. “I get it money matters so do you my guy. Just keep it 100 and don’t Trojan horse for them. White Supremacy is who you are and represent. Enjoy!!”
In true Ice Cube fashion, the former N.W.A. group member responded in no uncertain terms making his alignments very clear.
“Shut yo b—- a— up,” Cube replied emphatically. “I ain’t aligned with nothing, punk. I draw my own f—– lines.”
The BIG3 is set to kick off its seventh season on June 15th.
