Melody Shari, the star of the number one OWN Network show “Love & Marriage: Huntsville,” showed her support to fellow entertainer Hill Harper as he embarks on his U.S. Senatorial campaign.
Shari’s fourth annual “Mimosas with Melody,” held at the opulent Biltmore Ballroom in midtown Atlanta, became a platform for Hill to explain why he is running for one of the senate seats in Michigan. Notably, Harper was a Harvard classmate of former President Barack Obama and is best known for his television roles in “CSI: NY” and “The Good Doctor.”
Melody Shari makes the ‘Mimosas With Melody’ soiree a co-ed event for the 1st time
“It is typically an event about inspiring women, but this time I believed it was time to inspire our entire race,” Shari explained. “My good friend Hill is running for the U.S. Senate, so this year I made it a co-ed event to include our first-ever men’s panel. It’s all about like-minded people coming together to show support and unity.”
The evening’s proceedings were moderated by Claudia Jordan, best known for the TV shows “Cocktails with Queens” and “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
Other guests included: actor and singer Drew Sidora, who received the “Woman on the Rise Award”; businesswoman Courtney Adeleye; businesswoman Dr. Chanita Foster; beauty and hair mogul Tamika Gibson, who received the “Woman on Purpose Award”; celebrity stylist J. Bolin; financial investor Chris Sain; celebrity publicist Ivan Thomas; and other community and business leaders.
Resplendently dressed guests in black ties and dinner gowns were ushered into the grand ballroom for five-star cuisine and to imbibe on mimosas and other drinks.
Claudia Jordan emceed the panel discussions that included how to cultivate cultural unity and leverage the power of the Black dollar. For the first time in the “Mimosas with Melody” series, there was both a women’s and men’s panel, punctuated by Harper’s impassioned speech detailing his aspirations to serve in Congress.
