DeWanda Wise is the lynchpin that sets off a hilarious sequence of events in the upcoming ensemble comedy, Poolman.

The film tells the story of Darren Barrenman (Chris Pine), a hapless Los Angeles citizen who works as a pool maintenance man at the Tahitian Tiki apartment complex. He spends his free time trying to make his city a better place. Barrenman’s life is turned upside down when he is approached by the mysterious June Del Rey (Wise), who recruits him to help investigate a shady business deal between a corrupt politician and a sneaky property developer.

What ensues afterward is a hilarious and action-packed adventure that sees Barrenman recruiting his unwilling friends to help as he takes on political bigwigs and other nefarious actors to uncover the truth and fight the invisible monster that is high-level corruption.

First premiering at the 2023 Toronto Film Festival, the film also marks Pine’s directorial debut and co-stars Annette Benning, Clancy Brown, Danny DeVito, Jennifer Jason Leigh, John Ortiz, Ray Wise, and Stephen Tobolowsky.

Poolman is scheduled to hit theaters on May 10.
