Issa Rae is putting her producer cap back on and pairing Keke Palmer and SZA together for a new comedy movie.

Though details are still coming together, both SZA and Palmer are confirmed to lead the project spearheaded by Rae and her company, HooRae Media in conjunction with TriStar Pictures. The as-of-yet untitled film will be directed by Lawrence Lamont (“Rap Sh!t”) and written by Syreeta Singleton (“Central Park” “Insecure”), both of whom have worked with Rae throughout the years.

“I CAN’T WAIT!!!,” Keke wrote in an Instagram post about the project that the 30-year-old triple-threat talent will not only star in but also executive producer through her company, Big Boss. Fans familiar with that company name know that it’s Palmer’s brand in which last year she made her directorial debut short film Big Boss, which was accompanied by an album of the same title.

SZA and Rae previously worked together when the “Kill Bill” singer appeared on Rae’s hit HBO series, Insecure, in 2020.

Though nominated for an Academy Award for working on the song “All the Stars” from Black Panther, this film with Rae will mark the feature film debut for the 34-year-old multi-Grammy Award-winning artist.

Thus far, no further details or casting announcements have been announced for the untitled buddy comedy.
