NBA YoungBoy may just have seen his legal problems go from bad to worse.

The 24-year-old rapper born Kentrell Gaulden is already in deep with Utah authorities after being charged last month with more than five dozen counts in a prescription drug case including forgery, identity fraud, obtaining a prescription under false pretenses, and possession of a controlled substance.

>Now according to Utah news outlet KUTV, the “Makes No Sense” artist is now facing additional charges of possession of a firearm by a restricted person and a pair of counts of obtaining a prescription without permission. Already being held without bail, the Weber County Attorney’s office is hoping to keep the rapper behind bars.

“There is clear and convincing evidence that the defendant would constitute a substantial danger to any other individual or to the community, or is likely to flee the jurisdiction of the court, if released on bail,” the office said in a statement.

YoungBoy is accused of running a scheme in which a Promethazine with Codeine prescription would be called in using a real doctor’s identity but a fake patient’s name. After calling in the prescription, authorities allege that either YoungBoy or one of two other ‘Known Associates’ would then go pick it up. The rapper was apparently busted after impersonating a doctor while ordering a prescription and using the word “axed” instead of “asked.”

Gaulden, who was already on house arrest at the time of this latest arrest, has been in Salt Lake City, Utah since 2021 after facing charges in Louisiana for being a felon in possession of a gun. After being convicted of aggravated assault with a weapon in 2017, the rapper was allegedly caught with two guns while shooting a video in his hometown of Baton Rouge in 2020.

Choosing to flee Louisiana, YoungBoy was arrested in Los Angeles on related charges but not before leading police on a brief chase. The run-in with L.A. cops also got him arrested and hit with another gun charge as police recovered a weapon from his car at the time.

While he was eventually acquitted in the Los Angeles case, NBA YoungBoy is still awaiting trial in Louisiana and is currently being held in Utah’s Cache County Jail.
