2024 ‘XXL’ Freshman contender Wizz Havinn has important tip for young hustlers

Wizz Havinn wants to bring the same message in all of his music

For 100 days straight, Tallahassee rapper Wizz Havinn has been in the studio working on new music and opening up about his life and journey to success. Havinn is indeed having a solid year so far, having performed multiple features with artists such as BossMan Dlow, while also being considered for the 2024 XXL Freshman list. With his message of getting money and being yourself, Havinn is hoping to inspire people to hone their hustler mindset.

Havinn spoke with rolling out about his exciting project, the message in his music, and being considered for the 2024 XXL Freshman list.

What inspired you to make this upcoming project?

[It was] me just reevaluating and saying it’s time to turn it up a notch. I wanted to put in more effort than I did the last time.

What was it like growing up in Tallahassee?

It was regular. Coming up, going through the hard times. Parents trying to make it work, parents separated. Just learning the hard way. I’m not trying to make it seem I went through the worst of the worst, but I definitely went through hard times. I know what the struggle is.

What’s the message that you want to convey through your music?

I just try to explain to everybody to get some money. It doesn’t really matter how you get it, just get it, and save it. Stay humble and pop your s—, but don’t let people run over you and treat you like you’re not anything. You still have to pop it when it comes down to it. Put your chest out. For the music part, what I try to explain to people is do you. You don’t have to get in character. People try to get in character and sound a certain way, sound like yourself. It’ll work, somebody will like it.

Do you feel like Kodak Black is one of the top rappers from Florida?

Kodak has some years under his belt. He done put some work in and I’m going to be real, I don’t know how people look at it but he’s really the one that brought the Florida culture to the world. The gold teeth, the wicks, the spreading money, cuban links, he brought that to the world. He’s definitely an OG, he has to get his flowers. That s— was going on before he brought it out but he’s the one that made everybody put their eyes on it.

How important is it for you to be considered for the 2024 XXL Freshman list?

That s— feels great, and then being on there with the people that are being considered, a lot of them are ahead of the game. Seeing me in the lineup with them makes me feel like I’m there and I gotta be close. I’m doing something right.
