Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot tells the inspiring tale of an East Texas church that goes above and beyond in its efforts to right some glaring wrongs in the foster care crisis.

Produced by Angel Studios (Cabrini, Sound of Freedom), the film stars Nika King (“Euphoria”) and Demetrius Grosse (“Swagger”) as Donna and Reverend Martin, a couple running a small rural church undertake the mission of adopting 77 children from foster care who have been deemed unadoptable. With the community’s support and love and patience in abundance, things come together and work out for the betterment of all involved.

Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot is a rare film that merges an incredible true story with the power to transform a critical issue facing our communities,” says Angel Studios exec Jared Geesey. “Last July 4, Sound of Freedom brought issues of trafficking to the attention of millions, and we know that a staggering percentage of children from foster care become targets for trafficking. We hope to continue to build on that awareness and shine light on the next step this Independence Day.”

In addition to starring in the film, King also serves as executive producer alongside Joe Knittig and Black Panther star Letitia Wright. Atlanta based Peacetree Productions also co-produced the project with Rebekah Weigel and Joshua Weigel who pulls quadruple duty as writer, director, producer, and taking on the role of Pastor Mark.

The heartwarming film also features a talented ensemble cast that includes A.J. Pulliam, Carlos Aviles, Demian Castro, Diaana Babnicova Elizabeth Mitchell, Jillian Reeves, Ian Lyons, Nikkita Johnson, and Sarah Hudson among others.

Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot will be in theaters on July 4.
