Halle Berry has reportedly exited Kim Kardashian‘s upcoming legal drama television show. Just a week prior, show officials announced the 57-year-old star was a member of the cast for “All’s Fair” — a project crafted by “American Horror Story” maestro Ryan Murphy — alongside Glenn Close and the reality star turned actress Kim Kardashian.
But now, according to Variety, she has “bowed out of the show due to a scheduling conflict.”
Berry was also set to wear the producer’s hat, but alas, she has hung it up and will no longer be involved in any capacity.
The series centers on an all-female law firm in Los Angeles, and while details about Berry’s character were top secret, we can only imagine it involved a lot of dramatic courtroom scenes and stylish power suits.
Ryan Murphy, known for turning high school show choirs and plastic surgeons into must-watch TV, is set to write, direct, and executive produce this new venture. It’s his first series under a new Disney deal, following the end of his Netflix agreement.
Kardashian and Close are both executive producers, along with Kardashian’s mother Kris Jenner (of course), Alexis Martin Woodall, Scott Robertson, and Eric Kovtun.
Kardashian made her acting debut as publicist Siobhan Corbyn in “American Horror Story: Delicate,” and the show’s creator was thrilled with the feedback on her performance.
“You were really, really good to the point where they called me and were like, ‘Do you think Kim would want to do her own show?'” Ryan told her in a recent episode of “The Kardashians.”
Ryan, who also gave us “Glee,””Nip/Tuck,” “Ratched,” and more, then pitched an idea for the reality star to get her own series.
“Kim is the world’s best, most expensive divorce lawyer, and she has her own firm, and the thing about her firm is it’s an all-female firm,” he suggested.
Kim, who has some personal experience in the field after her divorce from Kanye West, quipped she might be up for the challenge. Ryan joked that they might need to “build a sound stage outside” of Kardashian’s home, considering her busy schedule juggling law school, her reality show, and multiple businesses.
However, she noted she’ll have more time after taking the bar exam in 2025.
“Not only am I a lawyer, but I play one on TV,” Ryan quipped regarding a catchphrase for the show.
