Rising hip-hop star NBA YoungBoy is preparing to enter a guilty plea in his federal weapons case, aiming to transfer his proceedings from Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Utah. This strategic move is expected to simplify his legal situation, as he faces multiple charges in Utah.

Details of the case

According to reports from XXL, YoungBoy plans to plead guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His attorney, Drew Findling, has already submitted the necessary legal documents to facilitate this transfer.

Background of the charges

YoungBoy’s legal troubles began in September 2020 when he was arrested for brandishing firearms during a music video shoot in Baton Rouge. Upon police arrival, several firearms were discovered, including a 9mm handgun allegedly in YoungBoy’s possession.

Current charges in Utah

In Utah, YoungBoy faces serious allegations, including orchestrating a fraudulent prescription drug ring, which has led to 63 felonies and misdemeanors against him. He was apprehended while on house arrest for various charges, including: pattern of unlawful activity, attempting to procure drugs, identity fraud, forgery, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of controlled substances.

Authorities believe that at least 15 pharmacies were involved in the fraudulent activities, with three accomplices allegedly traveling to different locations with orders from fake doctors.

Support from fans

During a recent Zoom hearing related to his Utah case, YoungBoy’s fans made headlines by virtually invading the courtroom. They expressed support by calling for his release and criticizing the presiding judge, Spencer Walsh. The fans chanted “Free YB” and made their feelings known in a spirited display of loyalty.

Next steps

YoungBoy’s next virtual court date is scheduled for Aug. 19, where further developments in his case will unfold.
