A battle of the Barbz is heating up as Nicki Minaj finds herself in a legal dispute with a longtime fan, Tameer Peak. According to court documents, Peak is suing the rapper for $5 million, claiming reputational harm, emotional distress and financial loss.

Background of the dispute

The tension between Minaj and Peak reportedly dates back to 2017, during what Minaj referred to as her “Nicki Hate Train” phase. At that time, she accused fans like Peak of being paid moles sent to sabotage her career.

Peak alleges that Minaj publicly embarrassed him during an Instagram Live session and that her husband, Kenneth Petty, berated him at a Super Bowl event in 2020. He claims that Minaj later messaged him about the incident on social media.

Recent allegations

Fast forward to 2024, and Peak claims that Minaj has made derogatory comments about him during several Stationhead live streams, suggesting he is mentally unstable and labeling him a stalker. This has led to the current lawsuit.

Minaj’s response

Despite the lawsuit, Minaj appears unfazed. Her lawyer has stated that Peak has been harassing her on social media for years and that his claims are false and legally frivolous. The lawyer expressed confidence that Peak would regret pursuing this path, especially when faced with potential legal fees.

In a show of resilience, Minaj took to X to tease her fans about new music, stating, “Well, Barbz- Didn’t really want to have to speak on this but I just can’t stay quiet about it any longer. Last night, I recorded what will probably be your favorite song on the deluxe.”

What’s next for Nicki Minaj?

As she prepares for the U.S. leg of her “Pink Friday 2” tour, it seems Minaj is focused on her music career despite the ongoing legal drama. Fans can expect new material soon, which she promises will be a standout in her discography.
