Do Chiefs practice dark magic? X users seem to think so

To say the Kansas City Chiefs have been the luckiest team in the NFL this year would be an understatement. But what if the truth is actually something darker? After last night’s win and the entirety of the season so far, it’s hard to believe Chris Jones, Travis Kelce, Andy Reid, and Patrick Mahomes didn’t sell their souls to the devil.

The Los Angeles Chargers trailed 13-0 at halftime, but flipped the switch and scored 14 straight points to take the lead late in the fourth quarter. The Chiefs were in a situation we’ve seen plenty of times this season, needing a last-minute drive to secure the win. Mahomes and the Chiefs marched all the way down the field but with only a second left on the game clock, they settled for a field goal.

It looked like the Chiefs’ luck would finally come to an end. Harrison Butker, their starting kicker, was out with an injury so the game would depend on the foot of backup Matthew Wright. The backup kicker the ball and it started to veer left but somehow it doinked off the left upright and between the posts, securing the win and an AFC West division title for the Chiefs (12-1).

Social media was sure that dark magic was at play after witnessing the Chiefs insane field goal for the win over the Chargers, securing the 19-17 in another close game. Twitter and Instagram were filled with tweets and images of various Chiefs including Mahomes and Kelce practicing dark magic.

The reason for these thoughts is because to be completely honest, the Chiefs have been a little too lucky. This has been their third win on a late field goal, and each game winning field goal was kicked by a different kicker. The Chiefs have 12 wins so far this season, 10 of them have been won by a touchdown or less. Throw in the Taylor Swift rumors, depending on what side of celebrity culture you are on, about her selling her soul to become the biggest pop star in the world, and tie that into her dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and you would have a pretty solid hypothesis about the Chiefs being devil worshippers.

But, again, this is all speculation and probably a bit of trolling, which is of course Twitter’s favorite hobbies.

If you remember, these rumors followed around Tom Brady for his career too. The scary part of the Brady rumors was that his ex-wife, Gisele Bundchen, stated publicly that she was a witch and even admitting to putting spells Brady’s seasons so that he would come out on top. Brady came out and admitted this was true, even telling us some of the pregame rituals she would do on him. So if the GOAT is relishing in dark magic, why wouldn’t the baby GOAT take notes? Once you start putting all the pieces together, this argument has credence.

But then again, it doesn’t hurt to speculate. The Chiefs have lost one game in the last 365 days. That is astonishing. Are the Chiefs this good? Is it really just luck? Or are higher powers at work? Well really unholy powers, but you catch the drift. I guess we will see come Super Bowl. But if the Chiefs keep pulling out these insane wins on the way to a third straight Super Bowl, the black magic rumors will be louder than ever.

Maybe a little too loud.
