Chloe Bailey has stopped taking life “so seriously” since she became an auntie.

The 26-year-old star, the sister of music star Halle Bailey, admits that her entire approach to life has been transformed since the birth of her nephew, Halo, in December 2023. The arrival of Halo marks a significant milestone for the Bailey family, who have been in the entertainment industry since their early years.

Chloe credits Halo for new chill

“I have to give credit to Halo, because I feel like he’s helping me tap into my rich auntie era,” Chloe told PEOPLE. Her newfound role as an aunt has added another dimension to her already multifaceted career, which spans music, television, and film.

“I definitely feel like I’m allowing myself to feel more of a boss and not take everything so seriously, and I have to give credit to him.” This shift in perspective comes at a time when Chloe’s solo career continues to flourish, with multiple successful releases and performances.

Chloe also confessed that her sense of style has changed markedly in recent times. Her fashion evolution has been noticed by industry observers, who have praised her ability to blend comfort with high fashion.

“I feel like the common thread with all of that is I just like to be comfortable,” she added. This approach to style reflects a broader trend in the entertainment industry, where authenticity and personal comfort are increasingly valued.

Chloe rose to prominence alongside her sister as Chloe x Halle. The duo’s musical journey began on YouTube, where they caught the attention of Beyoncé and were subsequently signed to her label, Parkwood Entertainment. Their partnership has produced numerous critically acclaimed projects and Grammy nominations.

The “Have Mercy” hitmaker previously admitted that she felt “so freaking proud” of her sister, after she was cast as Ariel in The Little Mermaid. The Disney live-action remake marked a historic moment in cinema, with Halle becoming the first Black actress to play the iconic role.

‘So freaking proud!’

“I’m so freaking proud of her! I have been seeing billboards and magazines of her everywhere and I am just so freaking proud,” Chloe told “Entertainment Tonight.” Her support for her sister’s achievements demonstrates the strong bond between the siblings, which has been a cornerstone of their success.

Chloe also claimed that Halle was perfectly suited to playing the role of Ariel. The casting decision received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike, with many praising Halle’s performance and vocal abilities.

“She didn’t have to do much training for that. Like, she’s always been that sweet [girl] … So the stars aligned. I feel like all her life she’s been preparing for this role.” The sisters’ early exposure to performing arts, including their YouTube covers and subsequent professional training, helped prepare them for their respective careers.

Despite this, Chloe wasn’t actually able to watch the movie at the time because she was too busy touring. Her own successful solo career has kept her incredibly busy, with performances across the country and various high-profile appearances.

“I’ve been trying to not cry every time I think about it. I’m the only one who hasn’t seen it ’cause I’ve been on tour when they had the early screenings and I just I gotta get tissues with me.” This emotional response reflects the deep connection between the sisters, who have supported each other throughout their careers.

The Bailey sisters’ journey from YouTube sensations to established entertainment figures has inspired many young artists. Their ability to maintain strong family bonds while pursuing individual success has become a model for others in the industry. Chloe’s recent embrace of her role as an aunt adds another layer to their story of family, success, and personal growth.

Their success extends beyond the entertainment industry, as they’ve become role models for young people, particularly in the African American community. Both sisters have used their platforms to advocate for various causes, including racial equality and women’s empowerment.
