“I felt really inspired by the costumes [Anderson] designed for Luca Guadagnino’s film ‘Queer’, and loved the idea of playing around with menswear—especially with a suit that felt of that era… The film’s costume design has already received critical acclaim at several international film festivals.
“Danielle and I remembered Julia Roberts’s grey suit from the ’90 Golden Globes. We’ve maybe been talking about this look since October or November, so for the past few days, seeing it bubbling up again has felt like wild kismet.” Roberts’ original 1990 outfit remains one of the most referenced red carpet looks in awards show history.
Ayo donned a tailored grey wool blazer with matching waistcoat and dramed trousers that was a custom version of a Loewe spring 2025 menswear outfit. The suit was crafted in Loewe’s Madrid atelier, requiring over 100 hours of expert tailoring.
“The shoes were actually a men’s style that they made for me!” she added. The custom footwear was handcrafted in Italy using traditional shoemaking techniques.
The 29-year-old star chose a make-up look that felt “feminine but in a sharp way”, had her hair colored red in another nod to Julia and accessorized with a Loewe Puzzle bag and another striking accessory. The Puzzle bag, first introduced in 2015, has become one of Loewe’s most recognizable designs.
“The grill was made by this amazing jeweler, Vanessa, of Mental Gardens, who I’ve loved for a minute,” she said. Mental Gardens has gained recognition for their innovative approach to luxury jewelry design.
