SZA has added four new tracks to the deluxe edition of ‘LANA’. This release follows her critically acclaimed performance at the Super Bowl, where streaming numbers for her music increased by 300% within hours of the event.

It was a bumper weekend for fans of the ‘Kill Bill’ hitmaker, as not only did she perform with Kendrick Lamar at the Super Bowl halftime show at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome on Sunday (02.09.25), but as promised, the Grammy winner added more songs to the reissue of 2022’s ‘SOS’. The Super Bowl performance drew an estimated audience of 115 million viewers worldwide.

Fans can officially stream ‘Joni’ featuring Don Toliver, ‘Take You Down’, ‘Open Arms (just SZA)’ and ‘PSA’. These additions bring her total catalog of released songs in 2024 to over 40 tracks, making her one of the most prolific artists of the year.

The ‘Saturn’ singer planned on dropping the additional tracks on January 6 and hit back at those who called her “unprofessional” for not delivering on time. The delay highlighted the complex nature of music releases in the digital age, where sample clearances can take weeks or months to process.

“Cause sample clearances always happen within the preferred time frame lmao? I shoulda NEVER tried to give yall what u asked for . It wasn’t professional . It was KINDNESS AND A WILLINGNESS TO APPEASE u lunatics,” she reacted on X. The post garnered over 500,000 likes within hours of posting.

Lana‘ already boasted 15 extra tracks to the record’s original 23 songs. The expanded album continues to dominate streaming charts across multiple platforms, reinforcing SZA’s position as one of R&B’s leading artists.

However, she decided to “add stuff” over Christmas. This decision came after the original deluxe edition reached platinum status in multiple countries.

“After listening w a clear mind I’m Switching some mixes out when I add stuff on Christmas lol . This means nothing to you but had to say it for me lol . Who knows u might notice,” SZA – whose real name is Solána Rowe – penned on X on December 24. Industry experts noted that this level of perfectionism has become a trademark of her artistic process.

She later confirmed “all updated mixes” and “new songs” will be added on January 6, “when the label comes back from holiday”. The announcement led to a 200% increase in pre-saves on major streaming platforms.

The ‘Good Days’ hitmaker’s manager Terrence “Punch” Henderson asked her to wait until “at least” Christmas or the New Year to drop the new tracks. This strategic timing aligns with industry best practices for maximizing streaming numbers.

The 35-year-old singer posted a screenshot of their texts and Punch responded: “OK. I think we should def let this breathe for a week at least. Give it to them for new years of Christmas.” The exchange revealed the behind-the-scenes planning that goes into major music releases.

SZA joined collaborator Kendrick – who appears on the track ’30 for 30′ on ‘LANA’ – to perform their hits ‘All the Stars’ and ‘Luther’ during his polarizing Super Bowl set, which saw the rapper continue his beef with arch-nemesis Drake by performing a censored version of his record-breaking Drake diss song ‘Not Like Us’. Their performance marked one of the most-watched musical collaborations in television history.

The new releases continue SZA’s remarkable career trajectory, which has seen her win multiple Grammy Awards and break streaming records consistently since her debut. Music industry analysts predict these additional tracks will contribute to ‘LANA’ becoming one of the most successful R&B albums of the decade, with projected sales expected to surpass 5 million units globally by year’s end.
