There’s a little something for everyone this month — new cartoons for the geeks, new thrillers for those who love suspense, a new comedy for the sports fans, and even something for the history buffs. 5. ‘Running Point’
On Feb. 27, 2025, the sports comedy series Running Point will make its Netflix debut. In the new series, Kate Hudson plays Isla Gordon, a former party girl who, after her brother quits because of a scandal, unexpectedly takes over as president of her family’s professional basketball team, the Los Angeles Waves. Isla’s quest to establish herself in the male-dominated world of professional sports is the main plot of the series and it comes with a myriad of twists and turns. “Running Point” is a mix of Ted Lasso and an exaggerated version of the real story of Los Angeles Lakers’ owner, Jeanie Buss.
4. ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’
The animated series “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” debuted on Disney+ on Jan. 29, 2025, but the series finale just released, making it the perfect show to binge watch to end the month. Staying true to the spirit of the original comics, the show goes in a new direction from Peter Parker’s origin. This show is about Peter’s early days as Spider-Man but features Norman Osborn as his mentor rather than Tony Stark. Charlie Cox reprises his role as Daredevil, Hudson Thames plays Peter Parker, and Colman Domingo does a masterful job as Norman Osborn. The show appeals to both new and old Spider-Man fans by striking a mix between teen drama and action.
3. ‘Yellowjackets’
“Yellowjackets” is a psychological thriller series on Showtime that follows a high school girls’ soccer team whose plane crashes in the wilderness, forcing them into a brutal fight for survival. The show alternates between their harrowing time in the wild and their present-day lives, where dark secrets from the past resurface. Season two might be some of the best television you will see post-pandemic and season three has finally arrived. Summer has arrived in Season 3, the Yellowjackets have a small victory under their belts; they survived the harsh winter that almost killed them. But now they must survive the summer, and everybody is starting to get wary of each other. The prequel to “Yellowstone,” 1923 follows the Dutton family as they navigate the hardships of the early 20th century. Starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, the series is about challenges of a rapidly changing America. In season two, the entire family of the protagonist is under attack. Spencer Dutton has made his return to Montana and because of how dire the situation, he doesn’t know if he and hisfamily will make it out. Set during the Great Depression and Prohibition, “1923” portrays conflicts over land, lawlessness, and the rise of modern industry, all while showcasing the rugged beauty of Montana. The show delves into the Duttons’ resilience as they fight to protect their ranch against external threats, offering a gripping and emotional expansion of the Yellowstone universe.
1. ‘Invincible’
The best superhero cartoon of the 2020s, and maybe ever is back and the stakes are higher than ever for Mark. Invincible follows Mark Grayson, a teenager who discovers his superpowers and trains under his father, Omni-Man, the world’s strongest hero. Season 1 explores Mark’s journey into heroism, uncovering shocking truths about his father’s true nature and the violent reality of their alien heritage. Season 2 dives deeper into Mark’s struggle with responsibility, betrayal, and the weight of his choices as new threats emerge.
