Chris Brown has been arrested in the United Kingdom based on an allegedly violent incident that took place in February 2023.
Police took the “Loyal” singer into custody while he was in Manchester, England, about a four-hour drive north of London. The apprehension stems from an episode two years ago where Brown allegedly smashed a tequila bottle over the head of music producer Abe Diaw at Tape London, a popular nightclub in the world-class city.
“(Brown) has been taken into custody, where he remains,” police said in a statement to TMZ. “The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit.”
According to the police report and court documents obtained by TMZ, Brown, 36, allegedly assaulted Diaw with a Don Julio 1942 bottle. After the initial blow caused Diaw to crash to the ground, Diaw claims that Brown then stomped him on the back and neck, causing him to go unconscious.
In the civil lawsuit that Diaw filed in court, he claims he incurred serious injuries, including torn ligaments in his leg, along with cuts and bruises.
Diaw also claimed in the legal documents that Brown then proceeded to spread defamatory information about him, including calling him a thief, in order to ruin his current and future business relationships.
According to the publication, Brown has not yet been released at the time of their report.
