Leading with love: A father’s daily commitment

YouTube video

When we talk about Black excellence, too often the conversation misses the quiet giants — the men building legacies of love, responsibility, and spiritual strength behind the walls of their homes. This Father’s Day, Rolling Out shines the spotlight on one such man: Nasik Emmanuel benAvraham.

Through his unshakeable dedication to his family and his deep spiritual grounding, Nasik offers a living example of what responsible fatherhood looks like — not just for his own children, but for an entire community watching.

The foundation: Walk it like you talk it

From the moment he stepped into his family dynamic, Nasik was clear: Interest means nothing without action. “It was accepting responsibility when you come in the door,” he says. His immediate decision to buy a bunk bed for his stepson — rather than letting him sleep on the floor — was more than a gesture. It was a statement: “Ain’t no son of mine going to sleep on no floor.”

This is fatherhood with intentionality — putting the needs of the family ahead of self. “Before I got myself something, I made sure they had everything they needed,” Nasik shares. His son, CJ Williams, echoes this principle: “When it’s time to get something done — just get it done.”

And that’s exactly the legacy being built here: a get-it-done mentality rooted in love, responsibility, and protection. “I can’t call myself a king … if I’m not concerned about the upkeep and safety of my family,” Nasik says. This is protection beyond presence — it’s vigilance, even in the middle of the night.

Beyond bloodlines: Embracing all children

Fatherhood, as Nasik demonstrates, is not defined by biology. “I embraced him like he’s my son,” he says of CJ. And CJ’s testimony is equally powerful: “He treated me like I was his son and [his] firstborn.”

In a world where so many children crave father figures, this embrace is revolutionary. It models a love that transcends DNA, one where responsibility is embraced wholeheartedly.

Spirit over everything

At the heart of this family structure is faith. For Nasik, the home must be governed by divine principles — specifically the Ten Commandments, which he reverently calls “the most elite of the 613 instructions from the Creator.”

“You got to keep God in front of everything,” he insists. Prayer is not occasional in this household — it’s foundational. Even discipline is wrapped in spiritual love. “The discipline is love,” CJ says. “Giving me correction is love.”

And Nasik drives it home with a simple truth: if you fear God more than anything else, you will walk upright and do good.

Honoring parents, building legacy

Another standout theme is honoring one’s parents — not just with words, but with action. Nasik takes this literally: When parents are old and frail, “you are not to put them away somewhere … you are to take care of them.”

This cycle of care is powerful. By showing his children how he honors his elders, Nasik teaches them how to treat him in turn — and how they should one day be treated themselves.

CJ adds a critical perspective: parents must also be worthy of that honor. “It’s your responsibility to ensure my development has happened properly,” he says. Respect must be earned through love and guidance.

Legacy in the community

Legacy doesn’t stop at the family line. Nasik is a vocal supporter of The Voices of Organic Black Men, a collective of Black men committed to responsible manhood and community leadership.

CJ, too, champions Black business, urging the community to support Atlanta’s Trap Music Museum, saying: “Help keep us going. Help keep the community with energy.”

A living blueprint

As Father’s Day arrives, Nasik Emmanuel benAvraham’s story reminds us: Responsible fatherhood is a daily decision, a spiritual practice, and a lifelong commitment. It’s not about grand gestures — it’s about consistent love, action, and protection.

To every man living out this blueprint: We see you. We salute you.
