You may not be a fan of his music, but seeing those abs will make you take a second glace at 50 Cent. 50, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, has released a fitness book titled, Formula 50: A 6-Week Workout and Nutrition Plan That Will Transform Your Life, that is sure to change the life of those willing to put forth the hard work and dedication to achieve their fitness goals.
The name “Formula 50” may ring a bell: In 2004, after becoming a Coca-Cola shareholder and endorser, Jackson worked with Coca-Cola to create a new grape-flavored “Formula 50” variant of VitaminWater. He frequently mentioned the drinks in various songs and interviews. It isn’t known just how much Jackson made from the purchase of his shares by Coca-cola, but estimates have been in the $100 million range. 50 continues as a spokesperson for VitaminWater, although he no longer has an equity stake in the company.
50 Cent teamed up with Jeff O’Connell, editor-in-chief at Bodybuilding.com, to release a book that delivers a payoff that goes beyond six-pack abs and flab-free pecs: The fitness plan, if followed, will not only give you the body you’ve always wanted but it will also boost your energy, endurance, flexibility and mobility. In the book, Jackson focuses on metabolic resistance training and how to use it to break down the barriers between traditional weight training and cardio workouts, to accelerate fat loss while building muscle and improving overall fitness.
50 Cent isn’t the only hip-hop artist to release a book. Check out another hip-hop artist with a fitness book here.
