DeKalb County Commissioner Lee May receives Men of Power Award

Commissioner Lee May was among a host of  award recipients  who were honored for “their achievements and for utilizing their reach and resources to edify those whose lives they touch,” says Munson Steed, CEO/Publisher rolling out magazine, at the Men of Power and Influence Awards sponsored by Ford.

Commissioner May is the youngest elected official in DeKalb County’s history to serve on the Board of Commissioners, which oversees a budget of more than $600 million, as the deputy presiding officer, chair of the Budget & Finance Committee and a member on the Public Safety and General Safety Committee. He serves as the voice for 160,000 plus residents in DeKalb County, one of the most affluent African American communities in the country. An ordained minister, Commissioner May penned My God, My Politics, bridging faith and politics by dispelling the myth that your faith cannot inform your politics. May is married to Robin, his college sweetheart, and they have two daughters, Ryann Kimberly and Reagan Leanne. He’s a graduate of Clark Atlanta and Emory Universities.

Supermodel Tyson Beckford and TV personality and author Toya Wright co-hosted the event celebrating this diverse group of industry leaders which was held at the Twelve Ballroom at Atlantic Station in Atlanta on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012.
