Trayvon Martin’s hoodie to possibly be donated to Smithsonian

The Smithsonian’s director has expressed interest in exhibiting Trayvon Martin’s hoodie in The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture.

“They’ve heard of it, but it’s probably a little premature, given the fact that, you know, we just came out of a trial, and we have a hold by the Department of Justice on the evidence,” family attorney Daryl Parks shared with reporters at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Convention at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Florida on Friday, August 2, 2013.

Martin’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, say it’s too soon to consider donating it.

Martin’s parents met with Department of Justice officials this week and during the Trayvon Martin Foundation launch announcement at NABJ, said they did not know whether the feds will file a lawsuit against George Zimmerman, who was acquitted last month of fatally shooting their unarmed son.
