Chad Johnson Pleads Not Guilty to Battery

After the infamous domestic violence incident between him and his reality starlet wife, Chad Johnson is officially facing the music. Johnson, 34, was formally charged this week with misdemeanor battery for an Aug. 11 incident in which he head butted his wife of 41 days, Evelyn Lozada. Early this morning, Sept. 13, an attorney for the NFLer  entered a not guilty plea on his behalf in a Broward County, Fla., courtroom. Johnson was not present in court. He faces up to a year in prison if convicted.

Before today’s development, his estranged wife  appeared on an episode of “Nightline” and admitted that she still loves her husband “more than anything,” but admitted that she is “afraid” of him and believes he “needs to get help.”

“It’s the hardest thing in the world to walk away from someone that you really love,” said Lozada. “But you have to walk away because I have to protect myself. “

Johnson recently tweeted to radio personality Charlemagne Tha God that he deserves a “Donkey of the Year” plaque for his actions. The host crowns a “Donkey of the Day” award to someone in Hollywood who seemingly made an a— out of themselves. Johnson sure sounds like a perfect candidate. –danielle canada
