Congrats to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson who will play Hercules, in Brett Ratner’s anticipated adaptation of the story of ‘Hercules.’
After months in talks, MGM has confirmed that:
The film will be an adaptation of Steve Moore’s 2008 graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars. The story line in the comic takes place in barbarian Thrace, rather than Greece, and follows Hercules training the ruthless Thracian army under the command of the country’s king.
Beau Flynn, Barry Levine and Ratner will produce. Peter Berg, Sarah Aubrey and Jesse Berger will executive produce.
Johnson even took it to Twitter with a quick picture of him in somewhat of a victory pose!

Production on the new Hercules film will start in early 2013. Johnson, who has had a busy yet successful acting career, will also in G.I. Joe: Retaliation and the body-building movie Pain and Gain.
