A tidal wave of disbelief swept across social media and ransacked a lot of people’s brains when they learned that reputed blond bubble-head Paris Hilton got signed to a record deal with Cash Money.

Please let me know when you come to. There’s more.

In fact, the sextape star-turned-actress-turned-singer, who did none of them well, is scheduled to drop her album this summer.

We’ll pause while you sit to catch your breath.

She told Showbiz 411 that this album will be different from her first effort.

“This will be a lot different from my first album,” said Hilton, who was interviewed at the Cannes Film Festival in the South of France where she is supporting the Sophia Coppola film, The Bling Ring, about a female criminal outfit that kidnaps Hilton. Part of the film was made at her home. “It’s really going to be house music.”

So, move on over and make a little room for Hilton, Drake and Nicki Minaj. Paris will be signed to Young Money Entertainment, a division of Cash Money and call Lil Wayne and Brian Williams her bosses.

This country is in trouble.

Hilton is no stranger to music, unfortunately. She dropped her debut LP, Paris, on Heiress Records in 2006. It actually reached the Top Ten of the Billboard Album charts, though it was ravaged by critics and many fans alike.

Speaking of which, Hilton and Cash Money were pummeled on Twitter after learning of this most unlikely of musical signings. Take a look at fans venting into cyberspace:
