Diddy just may not be the type to settle down. The 41-year-old hip-hop entrepreneur and entertainer has six children by three different women. Although he often shies away from discussing his personal life in the media, Diddy was taken to task by Barbara Walters and the ladies of “The View.”
During a recent interview, Walters asked Diddy, “Is six kids not enough for you to be seriously involved with one of the mothers of your kids?”
Appearing a bit uncomfortable, Diddy responded, “I have a line in one of my songs that says, ‘What if my twins asked me why I didn’t marry their mom?’ And I don’t have a reason. My father was killed when I was 3-years-old. My mother was strong and there was no other man around. I never got a chance to see how a family lives. The women I’ve had children with, I met them all in the same year. We were together at different times. Life isn’t something you can predict. Every woman I’ve had a child with deserved for me to marry them, but there were other things going on in my life. But I will take responsibility. My life works for me and my family. My kids have straight A’s in school and they pray every night. But if things are right, I will get married.”
Diddy should be commended for taking responsibility for his progeny, but it’s important for him to set a positive example for the hip-hop community and his children by getting married and not having more kids out of wedlock. –a.r.
