It’s no secret that legendary ’80s drug dealer Freeway Rick Ross is no fan of his rapping namesake. In fact, after unsuccessfully losing in a battle to prevent the rapping Ross from using the name, Freeway Rick has been on what can only be described as a smear campaign.
In a recent interview with Hip Hop Enquirer, Freeway Rick continued on his crusade against the rapper, this time stating that he believes Ross’ music is “damaging” to young people today.
“He’s another one that I believe has it twisted, who doesn’t understand that the message he’s putting out encourages young people to follow this life path,” said Ross. “Now our young people believe you can go out and sell drugs and parlay that into a record career, and there’s no record deal at the end of the rainbow. More than likely it’s prison or even death.”
Ross recently released a book on his life entitled Freeway Rick Ross: The Untold Autobiography. He can also be seen in the film Kill The Messenger, which is about the CIA’s involvement in bringing illegal drugs into the United States.
