Fans of the late R&B songstress Aaliyah will soon have another way in which to pay tribute to her.
News hit the wire on Sept. 16 that fragrance company Xyrena will soon be releasing a unisex perfume in honor of the fallen star. The scent, simply called Aaliyah, will feature a mix of vanilla, mint, lavender, jasmine, sandalwood, amber, black pepper, violet, leather and mandarin.
According to Xyrena CEO Killian Wells, this project is far from an unauthorized venture like the much maligned Lifetime biopic of the singer. Wells says he worked directly with Aaliyah’s estate to craft the fragrance:
“From day one we worked with Aaliyah’s estate to ensure that every aspect of this release met their approval. They appreciated that we wanted to create a fragrance that was really about Aaliyah, not just a generic scent with her name on the bottle. Rashad [Haughton, Aaliyah’s brother] provided us with a handful of colognes that Aaliyah frequently wore which we then used as inspiration, pulling notes from each that worked well together to create an entirely new formula.”
A portion of the proceeds from sales of the scent will be donated to The Aaliyah Memorial Fund.
Aaliyah by Xyrena is currently available for pre-order and will hit the shelves in mid-October.
