There is a new reality show spin-off in the works. Waka Flocka Flame and his wife, Tammy Rivera, are next to hop on the reality show train.
The “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” star couple have negotiated a spin-off show with Mona Scott-Young, the reality show mogul, for a new show called “Meet the Flockas,” which will also be produced by Scott-Young.
Waka told Bossip that he, his wife and step-daughter Charlie are excited about “Meet The Flockas,” which is apparently “going to be a lot different than “LHHATL.”
First off, Waka said the show won’t be scripted.
He said, “We control all this. It’s about time that the people see some real reality s—.”
Waka was careful to show some love for executive producer Scott-Young.
“Thank God for Mona Scott-Young. She definitely deserves some credit,” he said. “Even to get the opportunity to get on the platform. But it’s up to you how to you to be represented to the world.”
Born Juaquin James Malphurs, Waka was signed to 1017 Brick Squad and Warner Bros. Records in 2009 and he became a hit artist with the release of his club bangers “O Let’s Do It,” “Hard in the Paint,” and especially the blockbuster “No Hands,” which landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard charts from his 2010 debut studio album Flockaveli. His second studio album Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family was released in 2012 and was preceded by the popular single “Round of Applause.”
Malphurs was born in the South Jamaica section of Queens, New York. His family later moved to Riverdale, Georgia, a southern suburb of Atlanta. Waka’s mother, Debra Antney, is a well-respected industry rep and was rap star Gucci Mane’s former manager and the CEO of So Icey/Mizay Entertainment. The name “Waka,” given to him by his cousin, was inspired by the Muppets character Fozzie Bear’s catchphrase, “Waka Waka.” The name “Flocka Flame” was given to him by Gucci Mane, whom he has known since he was 19.
