5 reasons Baltimore officers want prosecutor Marilyn Mosby removed from Freddie Gray case

CNN reports attorneys for the six Baltimore police officers, Caesar Goodson, Brian Rice, Edward Nero, Alicia White, Garrett Miller and William Porter, charged in the death of Freddie Gray want the case dismissed or state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby’s office to be taken off the case due to conflicts of interest. They cite:


  1. Mosby and her husband, City Council member Nick Mosby, stand to gain financially and politically;
  2. She has personal relationships with potential witnesses;
  3. Her office took a role investigating the case;
  4. There is a pending civil lawsuit against her office;
  5. An attorney for Gray’s family is a close friend, supporter and a lawyer for Marilyn Mosby.
