NBA Star Gilbert Arenas Served Child Support Papers During a Game; His Children's Mother Seeks $1.3 Million

Gilbert Arenas had a good reason to lose focus during the Orlando Magic’s game against the Boston Celtics. During halftime, Arenas was served child support and custody papers.

His ex-fiance, Laura Mendoza, filed a petition for custody of the couple’s three children and an increase in child support.

Mendoza claimed that Arenas cut her off financially, but Arenas says that he pays her $20,000 per month for child support.

Mendoza wants the amount of support to be increased to $100,000 per month which will amount to $1.3 million annually.

Arenas believes that Mendoza is determined to hurt him because their relationship ended badly.

“I don’t pay much attention to it because this is who she is as a person,” Arenas said after the Magic lost to the Celtics. “It’s sad that it has to be in the public’s eye. She gets money. I mean when a girl asks for $100,000 a month and you say no, that doesn’t mean you’re cut off. You’re still getting $20,000.”

It’s safe to assume that Arenas and Mendoza are not looking forward to Valentine’s Day. –a.r.
