As time passes, more allegations and details emerge about Chad Johnson’s alleged assault against his soon-to-be ex-wife, Evelyn Lozada. While this is the first reported act of violence against Lozada, sources claim that Johnson has always been abusive towards his wife.
“Chad has been abusive towards Evelyn, basically from the beginning of their relationship,” a source close to the couple said to RadarOnline. “Chad doesn’t like Evelyn’s party lifestyle, and it made his anger worsen. He hated the way she acted on TV and would often lash out at her for any little thing.”
The source says that other close friends weren’t surprised when Lozada filed for divorce just days after the attack.
“Chad and Evelyn’s marriage was volatile in nature and a mistake from the start,” the friend said. “He [Chad] went off the scale at her once because he was tired of having Evelyn’s friends, like her assistant and stuff, living in his house.”
The source claims that things got so bad between Johnson and Lozada that her friends eventually feared for her life.
“She told me that Chad threatened to kill her one time, and that was really a red flag,” the source said. “But only a small circle of her friends knew what was going on and it was hard to convince her to get out of the situation.”
Since Johnson’s attack, he’s not only lost his wife, he also lost his place in the Miami Dolphins when the team’s coach recently fired him on camera.
And just when it looked like Johnson had hit rock bottom, things have gotten worse for the NFL star. According to TMZ, Zico coconut water has dropped Johnson from an endorsement deal after signing him less than a month ago.
“In light of recent events involving Mr. Johnson, we have decided to terminate our relationship,” said a rep for Zico. “The values we espouse, through our employees, our customers and our brand, are central to our mission. We have taken this proactive step to demonstrate just how important those values are.”
