The Real Deal on Atlanta Housewife Lisa Wu Hartwell

By now many of our readers and viewers know of the spunky over achiever ,Lisa Wu Hartwell, from the hit reality show, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” I know her as a personal and dear friend, a wife and a mom. She is family oriented with a heart of gold. If you have ever met her or have been in her presence, her hugs are warm and her personality is real. Lisa Wu Hartwell talks about life after leaving the hit tv show, her clothing line Closet Freak, movie deals and life lessons. –tammie reed

Lisa what have you been up to lately? Chile, I have tunnel vision right now (laughing). I have been laying low and have three movie projects on the table. Right now, I’m studying for a movie that I will be in and we start filming in March. The movie is called, Must be the Music produced by Stevie G and starring Charles Dutton. I play a character by the name of Karen. She’s Big Mike’s (Charles Dutton) personal assistant. He’s in the music business. It’s a big part.

How is your new book doing? “When The Cake Is Made” is doing well. [Co-author] Miasha and I have been on a book tour and its greatly received. The book is a fiction about three strong women that have a bond like no other. The book will be made into a movie soon. We just got word that we got funded to move forward. I’m so excited!

What do you think about this season of the Atlanta Housewives? Do you miss the being on the show? I really don’t (laughing), but seriously, I feel sorry for Greg. It’s a shame that NeNe and Greg are going through that and unfortunately they have to play that out in front of cameras. I feel great about leaving the show and it was one of the best decision I’ve ever made. I really don’t think about it much because life goes on.

What are some life lessons that you have learned recently? I have been through so much in my life. As an African American I see how we refuse to help one another. I’ve made mistakes in my life. Now I’m willing to share the knowledge from those mistakes. Most importantly my tribulations are my testimony that helps other people. Life is never about you. You’re supposed to share with other people.

Your clothing line Closet Freak, how is it doing? I had a soft launch at the end of last year. My collection will make any woman look like she has a stylist. It’s very seductive, affordable, with a high quality of fabric and affordable prices. Donna Karan uses a great quality blend and so do I. All my dresses are fully lined and the prices range from $90-$350. [They’re] sold at exclusive boutiques. I plan on having a viewing soon. You can learn more about my line by visiting my website at www.lisawuhartwell.com
