Reportedly, Joy Bounds is terrified of her ex, Lyfe Jennings.
According to TMZ, Bounds, who shares two sons with the R&B singer, believes Jennings is up to no good. In fact, per documents obtained by the entertainment news outlet, Jennings tried brainwashing their sons and threatened to harm her.
This isn’t the first time the “Let’s Stay Together,” artist has been accused of resorting to violence. In 2008, the 38-year-old was reportedly sentenced to prison for three years after kicking down the door of Bounds’ residence, and firing shots, before leading police on a high-speed chase.
Per Bounds’ claims, Jennings is still very much a ticking time bomb, alleging he made veiled threats like “I’m gonna remember this” and telling her she was “not that hard to find.” Bounds even alleges the singer is on a campaign to brainwash their kids against her, “taking them to a park and feeding them lies about her,” TMZ reports.
Meanwhile, Jennings tells TMZ, he never threatened Bounds or his little men in any way. According to Jennings, Bounds is simply throwing a tantrum because he accused her of being a bad mother. He also declared that he’s the epitome of a doting dad and wants the whole world to know.
In the meantime, a judge has issued a temporary restraining order against Jennings, ordering him to stay 200 yards away from Bounds and their two boys.
Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve witnessed Jennings’ relationship heading south. During season five of “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” the musician had a toxic relationship with Karlie Redd. Following an alleged surprise pregnancy (on Jennings end) and Redd’s steamy secret fling with rapper Scrapp Deleon, the pair parted ways after a failed proposal.
In July, Jennings expressed regret for ever getting involved with Redd during an interview with on the “Ryan Cameron Morning Show with Wanda Smith.” “I don’t wanna bad-mouth the lady, man, but again, I feel like I’m overqualified for that position right there,” he said. “It’s always gossip with her.” He went on to say that Redd was messy, leading him to question whether “this someone I really want to introduce my children to? Is this a role model for my children?”
He went on to call Redd an opportunist, alleging she pressured him into doing the show. “I regret giving her the D … I coulda gave somebody else this D and they would appreciate it,” he added.
