Bad Taste
This Southern trio is good for more than tongue-in-cheek plays on words like the one making up its name. The act’s fourth proper album is a collection of organic grooves and warm tracks in a low-key mode that reminds one of an early OutKast. ‘Kast colleague Big Rube makes a cameo, as do Phonte, Witchdoctor and a very mild-mannered Devin the Dude. Deacon the Villain, Natti and Kno’s triumph is in repping this cohesive and evocative-in-mood album while developing their very specific identity. –forrest green III
