Acoustix Jazz Restaurant & Lounge

Acoustix Jazz Restaurant & Lounge

Are you feeling grown and sexy? Are you looking for a place to take a date or unwind after work while listening to some good jazz music? Well, you need to scat on over to Acoustix Jazz Restaurant & Lounge, which will be having their grand opening Friday, March 25. I had the chance to get a sneak peek yesterday, and I was impressed with the atmosphere.

During my visit, I met musician Frank Taylor and Chef Tony. Frank said he was inspired to open the restaurant and lounge because of a trip he took. There, he saw a place that looked very inviting, so he stopped in for lunch. It was a jazz spot, and he ordered something on the menu that was called “The Al Jarreau.” There was live entertainment, and who was performing? That’s right — Al Jarreau himself!  He thought that was genius!

Frank said, “We had nothing like this place in Atlanta, so I wanted to bring it here.” Inside, you can sit at the bar and have a spirit or two, or you can sit in the sexy booths for a more intimate experience. They also have another lounge area for the overflow that is adjacent to the restaurant and will have live music as well. Acoustix Jazz Restaurant & Lounge

I also got to sample bites from Tony Chef’s menu. I tried the Charlie Parker BBQ Ribs, Herbie Hancock Chicken Caesar Salad, the Norman Brown BLT Salmon Salad and the Frank Taylor Crab Cakes. I liked the salmon salad the best. Yum! I also enjoyed dessert of bread pudding and Gladys Knight Peach Cobbler served with ice cream.

While you’re dining, there is additional seating in the center where you can listen to a pianist. The waitresses were very accommodating, which is key to any successful restaurant, and parking is plentiful. Located at 840 Marietta Street in the vibrant new area in Atlanta known as Midtown West, this is a great place for a birthday party or event.  If you are in the area or plan on visiting, check out this jazz spot that will be open Tuesday through Sunday.  –tammie reed
