It’s been a while since the world has heard anything from Angie Stone but now the soul singer has popped up in the headlines, once again, after being arrested this weekend for being caught speeding and driving with a suspended license.
As reported by accessatlanta.com, the arrest happened on March 27 in Atlanta, where she’s been residing since 2008. Stone was released from jail an hour later.
Atlanta police have yet to reveal exactly where in the city Stone was arrested and her reps have yet to comment on the incident.
Stone, who has a son with troubled R&B legend D’Angelo, originally made headlines as a member of the hip-hop girl group The Sequence in the ’80s, then as a member of the R&B trio Vertical Hold in the early ’90s.
In the late ’90s and 2000s Stone established herself as a solo artist creating a number of soul hits, including “No More Rain,” “Wish I Didn’t Miss You” and “Brotha,” as well as being nominated for Grammys in 2003, 2004 and 2008.
