Racist Hate Signs About President Obama Found at University of Kentucky

Obama has just officially launched his bid to obtain a second term to serve as president of the United States. To date, he is involved in four military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Somalia (albeit the latter is not as publicized) and has managed to bring overall unemployment down, although the rate for African Americans continues to rise.

But at home, he continues to face opposition similar to the times of Martin Luther King Jr. when men were so desperate and hateful that they would even bomb churches and kill little girls who were attending Sunday school.

This hatred and wrath directed to the commander in chief continue to persist. University of Kentucky officials are investigating two incidents in which someone hung signs that used racial epithets to describe President Barack Obama.  Not mentioned in mainstream media, in late March, a professor noticed one such sign hanging on a door to the University of Kentucky’s School of Law.

A week later, law student Ches Clark said he found a sign attached to a bus shelter that read “How Do You Spell Nigger? OBAMA.” Based on reports, the letters were cut out, glued to another piece of paper and photocopied. This is not the first time signage attacking the president has been documented at the university. In 2008, two college-aged men were arrested after hanging an effigy of Obama from a tree on the UK campus with a noose around its neck. At the time, the men found responsible for the effigy, Hunter Bush and Joe Fischer, were both university graduates and had charges dismissed against them by a grand jury.

Campus police at the University of Kentucky are investigating both recent incidences and could charge whoever posted the signs with third-degree criminal mischief. –torrance stephens, ph.d.
