Toni Braxton and her sisters will soon be entering living rooms across the U.S. via the family’s new reality show, “Braxton Family Values.” All the drama that the family has gone through, namely Toni, over the years has made us shake our heads, but it’s the very thing that We tv is using to possibly revive Toni Braxton’s career. Reality shows have been known to do so.
The executives at We apparently have enough belief in Toni as the centerpiece and main draw of the show to spend major money on the production that features the diminutive singer in her everyday life.
The network celebrated the venture with an elaborate kickoff party in Hollywood this week on the rooftop of the swanky London Hotel. They spared no expense in bringing attention to the premiere of what could be the women’s channel’s “Housewives of Atlanta”-style ratings booster.
There were private cabanas with bottle service, free-flowing drinks and hors d’œuvres, and an elaborately decorated cake that stood taller than the “Un-break My Heart” singer herself.
Toni Braxton is certainly the most compelling reason for We throwing its support behind the reality series, which will air on April 12, but her outspoken sister, Tamar, will be the NeNe Leakes that will keep viewers tuning in. When the sexy sisters were asked on the red carpet who brought the most drama to the production, in unison they shouted, “Tamar!”
Also on the carpet for the premiere party were Gabrielle Union, Shanice Wilson, Elise Neal, Toya Carter, singer Timothy Bloom, Poprah and Michael Jai White.
“Braxton Family Values” could be a good look for Toni’s career, as reality shows have been known to serve as comeback vehicles for those looking to reclaim their star status. She expressed her initial trepidation about exposing her “private self,” but once convinced, she went all the way.
“I didn’t want to do it at first, but once I let my guard down, I decided to give myself completely to the process. I hated the cameras being around all the time, but what you see is my reality,” she said.
