President Barack Obama will land at O’Hare International Airport soon and the motorcade will shutter through Chicago streets as he makes his way to his Hyde Park home. Reportedly, he stop by his 50,000 square-foot national campaign headquarters in One Prudential Plaza, and then he’ll attend two private fundraisers, followed by the people’s event tonight at Navy Pier.
Here are the details:
Kickoff:
N9Ne Steakhouse Chicago
Price: $35,800 a plate (the legal maximum for campaign donations). N9Ne is a top-tier steakhouse, so bourgeois that the servers wear white tuxedos.
Most Chicagoans rave about their succulent skirt steaks, and the chunky Lobster Risotto. The Apple Crisp dessert is so good that you can actually feel yourself gaining weight as you consume it.
Next, Obama will head to mk restaurant, a fine-dining establishment known for its delicious fare. And now a note about chef/owner Michael Kornick — he’s a consulting chef and partner with the N9NE Group, and mk has been named one of the “Best Restaurants in the World,” by Conde Nast. More than that, chef Kornick and his executive chef, Erick Williams, have an unflappable commitment to disenfranchised urban teens.
Check out Kornick’s involvement with a five-star reality show initiative, A Plate Apart LLC.
After shaking hands with the high rollers, (funds will benefit Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign and the Democratic National Committee), the president will head to Navy Pier tonight at 7:00 p.m. to mix it up with all the people.
Our favorite Chicagoan, Billy Dec, will co-chair the event, (hosted by Gen44, young Obama supporters) and Chicago Bulls’ player Derrick Rose will be on hand. Rolling out will bring you coverage from the event.
The First Family will return to Chicago in a few weeks to sit down with Oprah.
