Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will appear on an episode of “30 Rock” before the fifth season ends next month. Rice will be the never-before-seen former girlfriend of “conservative with a heart of gold” television exec Jack Donaghy played by real-life, staunch Democrat, Alec Baldwin.
Season 1 had Donaghy threatening to “kick Putin’s teeth in the next time he came near his girlfriend.” The audience never got to see the love interest and logically assumed that “Putin” was the Russian prime minister.
Creator, executive producer and “30 Rock” star Tina Fey dropped this bombshell, “We have some good [stories] coming up in the next few weeks before we wrap [season 5]. We have another few amazing cameos. One, I’m going to make an executive decision that I’m allowed to talk about this: We have Condoleezza Rice coming up in a couple weeks on the show.”
Dr. Rice is currently the Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution, professor of political economy in the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and professor of political science at Stanford University. A trained concert pianist, Rice has performed at the Lincoln Center and with Aretha Franklin to raise money for art and music programs for inner-city children.
