Rapper-actor RZA has clocked a sizeable amount of time in front of the camera over the years. Now the Wu-Tang Clan front man will showcase his acting chops as a guest star in a few episodes of the next season of Showtime’s hit comedy-drama series “Californication.”
According to complex.com, RZA will play a character not unlike himself, tentatively called Apocalypse, who is described as “an extreme-living, mega-rich hip-hop mogul who hires Hank (David Duchovny) to write a screenplay for his hot new film.”
Though not as well known as other rappers-turned-actors such as LL Cool J, Mos Def and Ludacris, RZA’s garnered buzz for his roles in films including American Gangster, Coffee and Cigarettes, Due Date and Repo Men.
Besides working in front of the camera, RZA has also worked behind the scenes, composing film scores for movies such as Ghost Dog, Soul Plane, Blade: Trinity and most notably, Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill series.
Californication’s upcoming fifth season is set to air sometime early next year.
