Gangbangers Stab Deaf Man, Sign Language Was Mistaken for Gang Signs

While celebrating with a group of deaf friends at the Ocean’s Eleven lounge in Hallendale Beach, Fla., Alfred Stewart, 31, communicated by using sign language. But after Barbara Lee confused Stewart’s sign language with a gang sign, the 45-year-old woman became infuriated and confronted Stewart.

According to the NY Daily News, Lee left the bar and later returned with two younger gang members in tow. Her crew approached Stewart, and 19-year-old Marco Ibanez began stabbing the deaf man and his friends.

Stewart was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries. Lee and Ibanez were arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Senseless gang violence continues to damage the lives of innocent people. It’s also become a problem that has affected several generations. The fact that there is a 45-year-old female gang banger proves that the lifestyle is a cultural mentality that needs to be eradicated. –a.r.
