Move over 2-Pac, Notorious B.I.G., Nas and Jay-Z? So Big Sean hosted a private listening party Tuesday night (June 7) at The Standard Hotel (NYC) for his G.O.O.D. Music debut album, Finally Famous. DJ Khaled, No I.D., Angie Martinez, Swizz Beatz, Selita Ebanks, Kevin Liles and more came out to support the Finally Famous artist, but Kanye West made it ‘deeper than rap’ when he stepped on the stage to commended his mentor, No I.D. while saying a few heartfelt words about his own mentee’s journey from the past. He even gave the audience a forecast of the future. In the video from Vibe.com, West states, “Big Sean’s story is one of the most amazing ever because he literally got signed off of a freestyle, to now…having the potential to be one of the biggest artists in the world…What Beyoncé is to R&B…Big Sean can be to Rap.”
Now, anyone who saw the Taylor Swift/Kanye West altercation at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards knows that the ‘Monster’ of a rapper literally went crazy about Beyoncé not winning the award when he rushed the stage, pardoned himself and declared that “Beyoncé had the greatest video of all time.” And that indeed was the truth! So Drunk or not, Mr. West is not going to speak so highly about Big Sean, or anyone else for that matter, unless he really and truly means it. Not to mention, his words are not only bond…but they are King. West concludes, “And I apologize for being late, I had a throne to watch.” Ha! Let Kanye tell it. Anyway, I got a good feeling that Big Sean can fill those “Beyoncé shoes” in the rap game, but only time will tell so keep your ears and eyes open folks.
