Hide yo credit card … hide yo wallet! H&M is teaming up with the one-and-only Versace. The trendy fashion chain has collaborated with numerous high-end fashion lines like Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, Roberto Cavalli, Jimmy Choo, and Lanvin, which gives them that extra edge over competing retail stores. Donatella has chosen to team up with H&M for the fall and give a healthy dose of fashion expertise in the men’s, home, and, of course, womenswear collections.
“Versace is one of the most important brands of recent time, and their collection for H&M will be glamorous and flamboyant — everything Versace stands for,” said Margareta van den Bosch, creative adviser at H&M.
The womenswear line will consist of studded leather, colorful silk prints and patterns, high heels galore and bold costume jewelry. For the men, the collection will be focused around sharp tailoring, including “the perfect tuxedo,” as well as belts and jewelry. Finally, you don’t want to miss out on your personal collection of Versace home goods, including pillows and bedspreads.
Donatella has already expressed her excitement with the line, “I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching their wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere.”
Donatella offers a sneak peek of a few key pieces during a recent fitting in both the men’s and women’s collections. One of the pieces includes the black leather and gold-embroidered studded dress in which she recently closed her Milan fashion show.
We can’t wait! The Versace line will hit stores November 17, 2011. As an added bonus, Donatella Versace has designed a pre-spring collection for H&M, which will be exclusively available in countries with H&M online sales from January 19, 2012. –mckenzie harris
